How to Calculate the Right KVA Rating for Industrial Machinery

When selecting a servo voltage stabilizer for industrial machinery, getting the KVA rating right is critical. Start by listing all connected loads and their rated power in kW. Divide by the power factor (typically 0.8 for industrial motors) to get KVA. Add 20-25% headroom for motor starting inrush current, which can be 5-7 times the running current for a few seconds. Always round up to the nearest standard capacity (5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 KVA etc.) rather than down — undersized stabilizers overheat and fail prematurely.
